Hemp & Tencel Woven
Fibre Content: 55% Hemp, 45% Tencel
Source: Hemp Wholesale Australia
Location: Warehouse located in Bargara, Brisbane. Fabrics sourced from Europe, China and India.
Certifications: None yet (certifications are expensive to acquire), however Hemp Wholesale Australia has visited all their supplying factories to ensure workers are treated fairly and there is no child labour.
Why? Hemp requires no pesticides or herbicides and is therefore an "organic" crop even if there is no certification attached to the fibre produced. Hemp also naturally requires much less water than cotton and helps with reducing erosion, in addition to having more usable raw fibre per plant than cotton.
Tencel is actually a brand that uses regenerated cellulose fibres (often woodchips) to create fabrics, specifically in this case Lyocell. Tencel lyocell is not as sustainable as recycled cotton or organic linen however it is still biodegradable. The company also sources from certified sustainable plantations.

Made in Melbourne
Each and every item is designed, patterned, cut and sewn in the Schusser Threads studio in the Yarra Valley. Almost all items are made to order, ensuring that there is minimal waste and opening up opportunities for small customisations if needed.
Living so close to the landscapes that the apparel is built for gives founder Abi the perfect opportunities to test samples, whether it be skiing, hiking, mountain biking, or just a night around a campfire.
Tree Planting
Trees are one of of the most powerful resources we have in helping slow the progression of climate change. With every garment, comes a small carbon footprint that is adding to the overall problem.
In order to reduce the carbon footprint of Schusser Threads we are donating $4 from every item sold to Carbon Positive Australia. This donation will ensure one native tree is planted and protected for many years to come in previously cleared land, protecting natural biodiversity and giving the native vegetation in that area a chance to bounce back.
